A Day in the Life of Roossevelt

Ignite is asking you to join us in supporting mission-minded businesses in third-world countries. We are partnering with not a fan to bring you missional artwork in Haiti. Roossevelt is a talented artist, a dedicated Christ follower, and is living his life on mission for God. The artwork purchased is non-profit artwork from Haiti. All profits Ignite receives from Roosevelt’s paintings will go to Roosevelt himself so he can use the money to help spread the Gospel in Kabik, Haiti.

It is important for those at Ignite to provide a way the public can know Roossevelt and to let the public know that their purchases directly affect the life of a follower of God in a third-world country. Roossevelt is a real twenty-year-old boy who has a daily routine. He faces struggles, finds joy in passionately pursuing the gifts the Lord gave him, and is dedicated in building a relationship with God and building relationships with those around him. This week we reached out to Roossevelt and asked him what a typical day looks like for him. Below is his response.

“Every morning when I wake up, I spend time with the Lord in a daily morning devotion. Then I eat breakfast and set out to do my work; I teach English and paint. I live at Hope Church, so after I teach and paint I set out to see my family because they live in the mountains. On the way to see my family I always evangelize to those I see. I tell them about the Lord, about Jesus, and invite them to come to Hope Church. If people have children or if I see children, I tell them about VBS at Hope Church, which I lead.

During the middle of the day, I go to a guitar class and practice my skills, so I can become better and better. I play guitar every Sunday at church, and I want to be the best guitar player I can be, so I can give praise to God. Then I usually have a Bible study, and I go to or I attend a church meeting. At night I eat dinner and do a nightly devotion before bed. Then I usually relax for a little while by playing guitar and think about what I have to do the next day.

This, of course, is what my day looks like when I do not have school. When I have school I wake up very early, around five or six in the morning. I am usually at school until about three in the afternoon, and then I come back and help with the ongoings at Hope Church.”

Roosevelt’s day revolves around his local church and around worshiping the Lord. Next, we asked Roossevelt specifically about his involvement in Hope Church and about his painting routines. Below are his responses:

“I help out with Church every Sunday. I run the children’s ministry here at Hope Church. Therefore, I preach most Sundays. I always pray for the church and often participate in Bible studies and in church meetings.  Also, I support the church and support the youth from what the Lord blesses me with. For example, whatever money I earn from a painting or really anything else, I give back to the Lord. As far as my paintings, the amount of time I spend on a painting depends of the size of the painting and what subject I am painting. On days I decide to paint, I spend the whole day painting. I wake up, read my Bible, take a shower, and then paint for the whole day or sometimes two whole days. I love painting and want to be the best painter I can be in order to give God the glory and spread the Good News. ”

The money allocated to purchase a painting from Roosevelt directly goes to spreading the Gospel in Haiti and creating a sustainable life style for Roossevelt. Roossevelt is a hardworking, committed disciple of Jesus. He is living out the Great Commission, and we at Ignite want to give our all to help Roossevelt. We excitedly invite you to join us.
